What troopers all my students have been during this pandemic year. We managed to continue learning thanks to the technology and Zoom lessons and we got creative with outdoor piano events like our Summer Piano Camp at Oak Mountain (Theme: Sasquatch Social Distancing Champion!) and our Spooktacular outdoors. 2020 Spring Recital (right after the shut down) was on Zoom but we managed to hold an amazing in person recital for 2021. One of my favorites was the Zoom play of "Austrian Idol". The virtual lessons were so effective that we will be planning on continuing a weekly "quick follow up virtual lesson" in addition to the in person lesson. It really has been so helpful for me as a teacher to get a sneak peak into each student's practice room. Delta Variant decided to grace us just before the start of school but we will continue to plan for in person lessons, albeit donning those beautiful face masks once again, and also continue to explore some fun ideas for outdoor venue group events. (Those are actually quite fun!) We are thinking about perhaps a trip to the Zoo and perform a piece for the different animals ... some original compositions and some pre-composed piano works. It's amazing how many fantastic compositions there are about zoo animals! Summer lessons are wrapping up this week and after a 2 week break we'll get started again with fall lessons. Can't wait!
